Prof. Stefano Cianfarani is an Associate Professor of Paediatrics and Chief of the Paediatric Endocrinology Center at the Tor Vergata University, Rome, Italy, Chief of the Diabetology Unit at the “Bambino Gesù” Children’s Hospital, Rome, Italy, and a Visiting Professor at Department of Women’s and Children’s Health, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden.
He is the Editor in Chief of Hormone Research in Pediatrics (Karger, Basel). He was trained in Pediatric Endocrinology at “La Sapienza” and “Tor Vergata” Universities of Rome and refined his training in Pediatric Endocrinology at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, UK. Prof. Cianfarani is active in both clinical and laboratory-based research. He was awarded with three prestigious NATO grants from the Italian National Research Council Grants. From 2004 to 2010, he was chairman of the Clinical Practice Committee of the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE) and member of the Programme Organizing Committee and Council of ESPE. He has published 140 original papers (Scopus) in peer reviewed Journals with more than 2000 citations and a total h-index 24. He is the Author of the chapter “Growth and Growth Factors” in the Yearbook of Paediatric Endocrinology (Karger, Basel) since 2011. Prof. Cianfarani has given numerous invited / endowed lectures nationally and internationally, regularly supervises and examines trainees in Paediatrics and Paediatric Endocrinology for MD and PhD.
